Division II Men's Cross Country Championships

Laker junior aims to become Clayton State's first men's All-American in cross country
MORROW, Ga. – November 20, 2009 – Clayton State's Fidelis Mutiso approaches this season's NCAA Division II Men's Cross Country National Championships with the opportunity that no Laker male runner has ever achieved - All-American status. Mutiso gets that opportunity on Saturday in Evansville, Ind., in the 2009 NCAA Division II National Championships. The men's race begins at 1 p.m., and for Mutiso to earn the elusive All-American for Clayton State, he will need to finish in the Top 40 in the field.

Clayton State’s Mutiso, Ellis earn USTFCCCA Division II Cross Country All-Region
Laker junior Mutiso to compete in NCAA Division II National Championships on Nov. 21
MORROW, Ga. – November 11, 2009 – The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its Division II All-Region teams on Wednesday, and the Clayton State Lakers had two representatives selected to the Division II All-Southeast Region team. Earning All-Region honors for Clayton State was Fidelis Mutiso for the men, and Chelsea Ellis for the women. See full story


Clayton State’s Mutiso qualifies for NCAA Division II Men’s Cross Country National Championships
Laker men place fifth, women ninth at NCAA Division II Southeast Regionals
WINGATE, N.C. – November 7, 2009 – After coming up short last season, Clayton State’s Fidelis Mutiso made sure he saw his vision through this season in the 2009 NCAA Division II Southeast Cross Country Regionals. The Laker junior qualified for the 2009 NCAA Division II National Championships on Saturday by finishing a strong seventh overall in the Regionals, held at Wingate. Mutiso broke the Clayton State 10K mark with a time of 32:22 to earn All-Region honors and advance to the NCAA Division II Championships, which will be on Nov. 21 in Evansville, Ind. Overall, the Laker men placed fifth and Laker women finished ninth. See full story


Clayton State teams gear up for 2009 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Cross Country Championships
Laker men coming off second-place finish at PBC Championships; Laker women fourth
MORROW, Ga. – November 5, 2009 – With two weeks to get rested and prepared, the Clayton State Laker men’s and women’s cross country teams have its sights set on Wingate, this weekend at the 2009 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Championships. The women’s 6K race will begin at 9:30 a.m., while the men will run a 10K at 11 a.m. Admission to the races is free. The top three teams in each regional will advance to the NCAA Division II National Championships on Nov. 21 in Evansville, Ind. See full story
