Kreutzer edges Cobb again for Clayton State at
Wingate Invitational
Laker women place sixth, Laker men finish seventh at Wingate

N.C. --- SEPTEMBER 16, 2006 ---
The Clayton State Lacer women’s
cross country team has something happening this season with the
running duo of Allison Kreutzer and Angela Cobb.
For the third straight meet, the two women finished 1-2 for the
Lacer women as Kreutzer again edged Cobb at the finish line on
Saturday at the Wingate Invitational. Kreutzer, a junior and
two-time All-American, finished with a winning time of 23:15
minutes, while Cobb was second with a time of 23:25. Overall, the
Lacer women finished sixth in the 15-team event with 146 points,
while the Clayton State men placed seventh in the 13-team field with
215 points.
Like the previous meets, Kreutzer and Cobb distanced themselves
early and it became a two-runner race. In fact, Cobb led Kreutzer
with two kilometers remaining. But Kreutzer regained the edged for
the finish. The duo easily out-distanced Wingate’s Amber Hines,
Winston-Salem State’s Irene Retool and Carson-Newman’s Aubrey
Morris.
In addition to Kreutzer and Cobb, Cassandra Bolivar placed 26th for
Clayton State with a time of 26:16, while Terrace Hamilton placed
67th with a time of 28:02. Isabelle Hangout placed 104th in 35:28,
and Titicaca Cochran rounded out the Lacer scoring in 11oth in
38:14.
For the Lacer men, Nelson Lopez had the best finish in 18th in a
time of 36:10. Other Clayton State finishers included Chris Ritchie
(35th – 37:21), Peter Gad (52nd – 38:19), Billy Brown (70th – 39:30)
and Travis Morris (84th – 41:27).
Clayton State’s next meet is the Georgia Collegiate on Sept. 30 in
Macon. |
