Laker men finish seventh at Georgia State Invitational
Lopez places 22nd overall for Clayton State

PANTHERSVILLE, Ga. --- OCTOBER 7, 2006 --- The Clayton State Laker men’s cross country team garnered a seventh-place finish on Saturday at the Georgia State Invitational. Clayton State accumulated 204 points, finishing 49 points ahead of LaGrange and four points behind Maryville in the overall standings for non-Division I teams.

NAIA power Berry won the 11-team field with 32 points.

Individually for Clayton State, Nelson Lopez had the best Laker finish for the meet in 22nd place in a time of 28:15.7, while Chris Ritchie placed 39th with a time of 28:52.85. Rounding out the Laker scoring was Travis Morris finishing 53rd in 30:27.31, followed by David Taylor finishing 72nd in 32:38.98 and Alfred Dixon placed 92nd in 35:00.95.

Clayton State’s next meet is the Peach Belt Conference Championships on Oct. 21 in Columbus.
