Laker women place second, men sixth at Georgia Collegiate Championships
Kreutzer, Cobb finish 1-2 for the fourth straight time this season in the women’s race

MACON, Ga. --- SEPTEMBER 30, 2006 --- The growing trend that started in the first cross country meet for the 2006 Clayton State Laker season continued on Saturday at the Georgia Collegiate Championships.

For the fourth straight time this season, the duo of Allison Kreutzer and Angela Cobb finished 1-2 for the Clayton State Lakers as the Laker women placed second in the women’s race. The Lakers finished with 87 points, 15 behind NAIA power Berry. The Lakers defeated host Mercer by two points, plus Peach Belt Conference foes Augusta State, Georgia College, North Georgia and Georgia Southwestern.

In the men’s race, the Lakers placed sixth with 202 points, finishing behind Mercer with 126 and Savannah College of Art & Design with 120. Berry also won the men’s race with 64 points.

Once again, it was Kreutzer and Cobb sharing the limelight for the Laker women. Kreutzer won the race with a time of 18:05.5 minutes, while Cobb was second at 18:25.4. However, it didn’t stop with the “Dynamic Duo.”

Cassandra Bolivar finished a strong 12th with a time of 20:00, while Terrica Hamilton placed 34th in 20:58.7 and Maria Larsen finished 41st in 21:21. Other finishes for Clayton State included Katelyn Stache (53rd – 21:57.6), Isabelle Ahanotu (97th – 25:17.5) and Titisha Cochran (111th – 27:19.3). Kreutzer, Cobb and Bolivar all made the All-Race Team.

In the men’s race, Nelson Lopez finished 12th with a time 27:52 for the Lakers, followed closely by Chris Ritchie in 18th place in 28:11. Peter Gajda placed 52nd with a time of 29:40, while Travis Morris placed 59th in 31:14 and David Taylor finished 80th in 32:00.

Clayton State will split its squads up for the next meets on Oct. 7. A select group will compete in the Brooks Twilight Meet in Memphis, while the remainder of the teams will be at the Georgia State Invitational.
