Clayton State’s Chergova, Redecsi fall in ITA Division II third place match
Laker duo drops tough three-set match, finishes fourth in the nation

MOBILE, Ala. – October 12, 2007 – Coming off a tough semifinal defeat on Friday at the ITA Small College National Championships, Clayton State’s Julia Chergova and Anna Redecsi aimed to salvage the weekend by winning the third place match in Division II women’s doubles. However, the Laker duo dropped a tough 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 decision in the consolation finals to Lynn’s Alex Schenk and Vici Weltz.

The defeat placed Chergova and Redecsi in fourth place overall in the ITA Small College National Championships for Division II doubles. Last season, the Clayton State duo advanced to the championship finals of the event.

However, Chergova and Redecsi have plenty to thankful for. The Laker duo has won two straight ITA Mid-Atlantic Regional titles in women’s doubles, and will key players in what should be a big 2008 season for Clayton State women’s tennis.

Clayton State officially opens the season on Feb. 9 at Division III power Emory.
