Eighth-ranked Clayton State keeps on rolling with 8-1 victory over No. 19 Drury
Lakers sweep singles to improve to 12-1 overall

MORROW, Ga. – March 16, 2008 The weather may have been more pleasant on Sunday, but the Clayton State Laker women’s team was anything but that as the Lakers rolled to an impressive 8-1 victory over 19th-ranked Drury at the Clayton County Tennis Center.

The eighth-ranked Lakers have now won three straight matches, improving to 12-1 on the season.

Clayton State swept all six singles matches and two of the three matches in doubles. The top two matches in singles featured nationally-ranked players squaring off against each other. At No. 1, Clayton State’s 15
th-ranked Anna Redecsi won a thrilling 3-6, 6-3, 10-1 victory over 32nd-ranked Laure Piquemal from Drury, while the Lakers’ Julia Chergova (ranked 47th) downed 49th-ranked Mouna Sabri from Drury 6-4, 7-6.

Also gaining singles victories for Clayton State included 42
nd-ranked Viktoriya Semyrodenko (No. 3), Katie White (No. 4), Kristine Jonutyte (No. 5) and Veronika Jasenovcova (No. 6).

The top doubles match-up was at No. 1 where the nation’s fourth-ranked team of Chergova and Redecsi from Clayton State bested 21
st-ranked Sabri and Khrystsina Tryboi from Drury 8-2.

Clayton State travels to Peach Belt Conference rival and 28
th
-ranked Augusta State on Thursday at 2 p.m.
