Three straight! Lakers improve to 7-6
with
5-4 victory over USC-Aiken

stands 6-3 overall in Peach Belt Conference after winning weekend
MORROW,
Ga.
--- MARCH 25, 2007 --- The Clayton State La ker women’s tenniscompleted an ultra-successful weekend of Peach Belt Conference action
with a thrilling 5-4 victory over visiting USC-Aiken on Sunday at
Laker Courts.
The victory was the third straight for Clayton State, which improves
to 7-6 overall and 6-3 in the Peach Belt Conference. USC-Aiken falls
to 9-7 overall and 2-5 in the Peach Belt.
Clayton
State
posted a strong showing in singles, winning four of the six matches.
Anna Redecsi pulled off a 6-2, 6-4 victory over the Lady Pacers’ Mayra
Kaefer at No. 1 singles, while Julia Chergova blanked USC-Aiken’s Elly
Toth 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2. Perhaps the most thrilling of the singles
matches was at No. 4, where Clayton State’s Zsuzsa Marosfalvi
out-lasted USC-Aiken’s Maria Angel in a 7-5, 0-6, 7-5 show-stopper.
Finally, Anna Marton posted a 6-4, 6-3 victory over the Lady Pacers’
Marianne Blattes.
The
Lakers’ lone victory in doubles was at No. 1, where Redecsi and
Chergova blanked Toth and Blattes 8-0.
Clayton State hits the road on Thursday for a key Peach Belt match at
USC-Upstate.
