Lakers open Szabados era with impressive 8-1 victory over UNC-Pembroke
Clayton State sweeps doubles, wins five singles matches in 2007 season opener

MORROW, Ga. --- FEBRUARY 10, 2007 --- Although there was great success for Clayton State women’s tennis in the fall, Saturday marked a new era for the Lakers as new head coach Tamas Szabados made his dual match debut. In turn, it turned out on a winning note for Szabados and the Lakers as Clayton State cruised to an 8-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over visiting UNC-Pembroke at Laker Courts.

Clayton State swept the three doubles matches, highlighted by the nation’s second-ranked doubles team in the Lakers’ Anna Redecsi and Julia Chergova. The duo posted an 8-3 victory over UNC-Pembroke’s Stacey Wood and Natalie Dies. Zsuzsa Marosfalvi and Veronika Jasenovcova were victorious for the Lakers at No. 2 doubles, as was Anna Marton and Elena Bondari at No. 3.

In singles action, Clayton State prevailed in five of the six matches. Redesci (No. 1), Chergova (No. 2), Bondari (No. 3), Jasenovcova (No. 5) and Marton (No. 6) each posted singles victories for the Lakers – all in straight sets.
