Clayton State makes it four-out-of-five with 9-0 victory over North Georgia
Lakers improve to 8-7 overall and 7-4 in Peach Belt Conference with shutout

MORROW, Ga. – APRIL 2, 2007 The Clayton State Laker women’s team returned to the friendly confines of Laker Courts on Monday, and came away with a handy 9-0 shutout victory over visiting North Georgia in Peach Belt Conference action.

With the victory, Clayton State has now won four of its last five matches and improves to 8-7 overall and 7-4 in the Peach Belt.

Clayton State swept both singles and doubles, recording a forfeit victory in each. The Lakers won each singles match in straight set fashion, losing only a combined 12 games.

In singles, the Lakers’ Anna Redecsi knocked off North Georgia’s Lilia Tzuetanova 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1, while Julia Chergova breezed at No. 2 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over the Lady Saints’ Katherine Harrison. Veronika Jasenovcova fought off a strong battle from Maria Dreaden to prevail 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3, and Zsuzsa Marosfalvi won a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Catie Murphy at No. 4.

At No. 5, Anna Marton won a 6-0, 6-1 victory over North Georgia’s Jenny Bridges.

In doubles, Redecsi and Chergova blanked North Georgia’s Tzuetanova and Dreaden 8-0 at No. 1, while Jasenovcova and Elena Bondari prevailed at No. 2 with an 8-6 victory over the Lady Saints’ Harrison and Murphy.

Clayton State plays its final home match of the 2007 season on Thursday, playing host to Berry at 2 p.m. at Laker Courts.
