Lakers drop regular season finale
6-1 against Division I Georgia State
Clayton State concludes regular season 9-9; faces Georgia College in
Peach Belt Conference Tournament
ATLANTA
– APRIL 17, 2007 – The Clayton State Laker women’s golf team
concluded the regular season on Tuesday by dropping a 6-1 decision
against neighboring NCAA Division I rival Georgia State at Piedmont
Park.
The defeat evened Clayton State at 9-9 on the 2007 season.
The Lakers recorded their only point in doubles, winning two of the
three doubles matches. The Clayton State duo of Anna Redecsi and
Julia Chergova pulled out a 9-8 thriller over the Lady Panthers’
Dariana Kozmina and Rachel Malina at No. 1 doubles, while Zsuzsa
Marosfalvi and Anna Marton edged the Georgia State team of Emma
Stahl-Johansson and Mateja Podgorsek 9-7 at No. 3.
Georgia
State,
however, swept the six singles matches.
Clayton State opens Peach Belt Conference Tournament play on Friday
morning at 8 a.m. against Georgia College at Augusta’s Newman Tennis
Center.
