Clayton State places four on All-Peach Belt Conference for women’s soccer
Lakers’ Valentine, O’Driscoll, Holsten, Espelt each selected second team All-PBC
AUGUSTA, Ga. – November 4, 2011 – The Peach Belt Conference released its 2011 All-Peach Belt Conference team for women’s soccer on Friday, and the Clayton State Lakers placed four players on this season’s squad. Selected second team All-Peach Belt Conference for Clayton State was forward Natalia Valentine, goalkeeper Laoise O’Driscoll, midfielder Josefine Holsten and defender Silvia Espelt. This is the most of players from Clayton State selected All-Peach Belt Conference since 2005, and each was a key component of the Lakers’ resurgence this season under first-year head coach Gareth O’Sullivan with a 9-7-2 record. This is the second straight All-PBC selection for Valentine and the first for O’Driscoll, Holsten and Espelt. See full story
Clayton State women fall 4-0 at No. 13 North Georgia in Peach Belt Conference Tournament
Postseason defeat ends Lakers’ season at 9-7-2
DAHLONEGA, Ga. – November 1, 2011 – The Clayton State Laker women’s soccer team entered the 2011 Peach Belt Conference Tournament on Tuesday with hopes of continuing its momentum it had built late in season. However, the host North Georgia Lady Saints had too much firepower and downed Clayton State 4-0 in the first round of the PBC Tournament. Despite the defeat, Clayton State still recorded its first winning season since 2007, finishing 9-7-2 overall. No. 13-ranked North Georgia improved to 15-1-1 and will now face No. 22 Columbus State in Friday’s PBC Tournament semifinals. See full story
Clayton State’s Espelt selected Peach Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week for women’s soccer

Freshman defender keyed the Lakers to a pair of shutouts last week
AUGUSTA, Ga. – November 1, 2011 – The Peach Belt Conference released its final weekly honors for the 2011 season in women’s soccer on Tuesday, and the Clayton State’s Silvia Espelt was selected as the Peach Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Espelt, a freshman from Madrid, Spain, becomes the second Clayton State player to earn a weekly honor this season. Junior goalkeeper Laoise O’Driscoll was selected Goalkeeper of the Week for two straight weeks. Both have keyed Clayton State’s late-season surge heading into today’s Peach Belt Conference Tournament game at North Georgia. See full story
Clayton State women travel to No. 11 North Georgia for first round of Peach Belt Conference Tournament
Lakers enter postseason having gone 6-1-2 in last nine games
MORROW, Ga. – October 31, 2011 – Playing arguably the best soccer of any team in the Peach Belt Conference down the stretch of the regular season, the Clayton State Laker women’s soccer team will hit the road for the first round of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament on Tuesday. The Lakers are seeded seventh in the tournament and will travel to second-seeded and 11th-ranked North Georgia for a 4:30 p.m. contest in Dahlonega on Tuesday. The winner will advance to Friday’s semifinals in Augusta, and the PBC Tournament championship is set for Sunday in Augusta. During the regular season, North Georgia (14-1-1, 8-1-1 Peach Belt) prevailed 2-0 in the game played at Laker Field on Sept. 28. Since that game, however, the Lakers finished up 6-1-2 in their final nine games. See full story
