Clayton State’s Yusuf selected Peach Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week for women’s soccer
Senior forward scores four goals as Lakers open season 1-0-1

MORROW, Ga. – September 6, 2007 – The Peach Belt Conference released its first weekly honors for women’s soccer on Wednesday, and the Clayton State forward Olaitan Yusuf was selected as the Peach Belt Offensive Player of the Week.

Yusuf, a senior from Ilorin, Nigeria, opened her season with four goals in the Lakers’ first two games. She scored twice last Tuesday (Aug. 28) in Clayton State’s thrilling 2-1 victory at Lincoln Memorial. Yusuf then followed that with two more goals on Saturday as the Lakers recorded a 2-2 tie at Newberry, rallying from a 2-0 deficit in the first half.

Yusuf’s two goals against Lincoln Memorial proved to be a milestone for both Clayton State and in the Peach Belt. It gave her 65 for her career, making her the top goal scorer ever at both Clayton State and in the Peach Belt. She passed another former Laker great – ex-Clayton State All-American Nkiru Okosieme – for the milestone.

Clayton State, which is 2-0-1 and ranked 21
st in this week’s NSCAA/Adidas Division II Top 25, plays next at Montevallo on Wednesday (Sept. 12).
