Clayton State’s Jowers selected Peach Belt Conference women’s soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Laker junior goalkeeper did not allow a goal in 122 minutes of action

MORROW, Ga. – October 10, 2007 – The Peach Belt Conference released its weekly honors for women’s soccer on Tuesday, and Clayton State’s Whitney Jowers was selected as the PBC Defensive Player of the Week. It marks the first weekly PBC honor for Jowers, a 5-foot-8 junior goalkeeper from Rabun Gap, Ga.

Jowers went unscored upon in 122 minutes of action last week. She played a scoreless second half last Monday (Oct. 1) in the Lakers’ 4-1 victory over Shorter. Jowers followed that up by recording a shutout with four saves in Clayton State’s 2-0 victory over North Georgia on Saturday.

For the season, Jowers has recorded three shutouts to rank fourth in the Peach Belt, along with 40 saves and a 1.36 goals-against average.

Clayton State (7-3-1) returns to action on Saturday with a 1 p.m. contest at Georgia Southwestern.
