Shooting guard Dixon comes to Clayton
State from Indian River State
 MORROW,
Ga. – November 16, 2009
– While the Clayton State Laker
women’s basketball team is anxiously awaiting what
should be a big 2009-10 season, head coach
Dennis Cox and his staff took the first steps
towards preparing for 2010-11 with the early
signing of Florida JUCO standout Keona Dixon
from Indian River State College on Monday. A
5-foot-7 shooting guard from Clearwater, Fla.,
Dixon is the first player that Cox has
signed during the early NCAA signing period
while at Clayton State. She will give the Lakers
a legitimate perimeter threat next season.

LaGrange
Stoudemire scores 17 as seven Lakers reach
double-figures
Box Score
 MORROW,
Ga. – November 12, 2009
– After falling in its exhibition
opener at Georgia on Sunday, the 13th-ranked
Clayton State Laker women’s basketball made a
180-degree turnaround on Thursday with an
impressive 101-58 rout over visiting LaGrange in
its second preseason exhibition at the Athletics
and Fitness Center. Just like the game against
Georgia, Clayton State relied heavily on its
full-court pressure defense, and it paid
dividends. The Lakers forced LaGrange, an NCAA
Division III program, into a whopping 43
turnovers for the game with 26 steals. LaDe'Sha
Stoudemire paced the Lakers with 17 points.

Georgia

10-rebound double-double
Box Score
 ATHENS,
Ga. – November 8, 2009
– The 13th-ranked
Clayton State Laker women’s basketball team got
a taste of "big-time" Division I basketball on
Sunday, opening their exhibition slate at
Southeastern Conference power Georgia. And while
the Lakers were impressive defensively with
their full-court pressure defense, Georgia’s
size was too much for Clayton State as the Lady
Bulldogs pulled away with an 80-49 victory over
the Lakers at Stegeman Coliseum. It was the
first meeting ever between these two in-state
programs, and the first encounter ever against
an SEC program for Clayton State. Latonda Bruce
paced Clayton State with a 12-point, 10-rebound
double-double.
