Clayton State’s Stevens selected Preseason All-PBC for women’s basketball
Senior guard one of two starters back from last season’s NCAA Division II "Elite Eight" squad

MORROW, Ga. – November 2, 2009 – The Peach Belt Conference released its Preseason All-PBC team for women’s basketball, and Clayton State’s Lesheria Stevens was voted onto the team by the PBC women’s basketball head coaches.

Stevens, a 5-foot-7 senior guard from Chattahoochee, Fla., is one of six players selected to the Preseason All-PBC team. She joins the Lander duo of Shannon McKeever and Ciara Lyons, All-American Phoebe Smith from Columbus State, Francis Marion’s Shannon Singleton-Bates and USC Aiken’s Kendra Chandler.

Stevens is one of two starters returning from last season’s Laker team that finished 26-7 overall and advanced to the NCAA Division II "Elite Eight" for the second time in the last three years. She averaged nine points and six rebounds a game, while recording 110 assists and 89 steals. Stevens ranked fifth in the Peach Belt in steals and sixth in assists.

Clayton State opens the 2009 season this Sunday with a much-anticipated preseason exhibition at Georgia at 2:30 p.m.
