Clayton State women drop one spot to 11th in this week’s USA Today ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches’ Poll
5-2 Lakers take on 10th-ranked and defending Division II National Champion Southern Connecticut State this weekend

MORROW, Ga. – Dec. 11, 2007 — Sunday’s defeat at Delta State didn’t hurt the Clayton State Laker women’s basketball much at all in this week’s Division II National Top 25 poll.

The new USA Today ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches’ Poll was released on Tuesday, and Clayton State fell only one spot from 10
th to 11th in this week’s poll. The Lakers (5-2) are coming off a 73-60 defeat at second-ranked Delta State on Sunday, and now prepare to travel north this weekend for another Top 15 showdown, this time against 10th-ranked and defending Division II National Champion Southern Connecticut State.

This is the 16
th straight week that Clayton State has been ranked in the Division II Top 25 poll, dating back to the first regular season poll last season.

Clayton State is one of two teams from the Peach Belt Conference ranked this week in the Top 25. USC-Aiken is ranked 21
st. up three spots from 24th
last week. In addition, Lander, Georgia College, North Georgia, Columbus State and Armstrong Atlantic each received votes this week.

The showdown between Clayton State and Southern Connecticut State will take place on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Southern Connecticut State’s James Moore Fieldhouse. It’s the final game for the Lakers prior to upcoming holiday break.
