CRYSTAL BROWN
Women's Assistant Basketball Coach

A steady force to the success of the Clayton State Laker women’s basketball team over the last two seasons, Crystal Brown begins her first season on the Laker coaching staff as a student assistant. She is on pace to earn her bachelor’s degree in Integrative Studies in May.

Brown was one of many contributing factors for the Lakers’ success over the past two years, both in the Peach Belt Conference and on a national level. She started two seasons at forward, pacing Clayton State to a combined 54-13 record with both a Peach Belt regular season and tournament championship and two straight berths in the NCAA Division II National Tournament.

In her two seasons, Brown averaged nine points and five rebounds, while shooting 75 percent from the free throw line in 66 games. She averaged nine points and five rebounds during her junior season in which the Lakers finished 25-6 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division II National Tournament. Last season, she averaged eight points and five rebounds a game, while shooting 75 percent from the free throw line in pacing Clayton State to a school record 29-6 mark, winning the Peach Belt regular season and tournament championships and advancing to the "Final Four" of the NCAA Division II National Tournament.

A native of Fort Pierce, Fla., Brown came to Clayton State prior to the 2005-06 season after a brilliant junior college career at Indian River Community College in Fort Pierce. There, she was a two-time All-FCCAA Southern Conference selection, averaging 17 points and seven rebounds a game as a sophomore. Brown was also a prep standout at Westwood High School in Fort Pierce.
