announces impressive 2010 spring signing class for Clayton State
women’s basketball
Three Division I
transfers highlight Laker newcomers
 MORROW,
Ga. – June 15, 2010 – Three Division I transfers highlight
what is a talented 2010 spring recruiting class for Clayton State
Laker head women’s basketball coach Dennis Cox. Cox announced the
five signees for the Lakers during the spring recruiting signing
period on Tuesday. The Clayton State Division I transfers include
sophomore Drameka Griggs from Jacksonville, sophomore Kayla Mobley
from North Florida and sophomore Alexiss Griffin from Kennesaw
State. In addition to that trio, senior Renee Jackson transfers to
Clayton State from Peach Belt Conference rival Columbus State, and
freshman Shacamra Jackson signs with the Lakers from Osborne High
School in Smyrna, Ga.

in final

Ga. - March 31, 2010 – The final 2010 USA Today/ESPN Division
II Top 25 Coaches’ Poll for women’s basketball was released on
Tuesday, and for the fourth straight season, the Clayton State
Lakers have finished the season nationally-ranked. Clayton State
wound up ranked 22nd
in the final Top 25 Coaches Poll after yet another banner season
under head coach Dennis Cox. Previously, the Lakers had finished
fourth in 2007, 24th
in 2008 and 11th
last season. Clayton State went 24-7 during the 2009-10 season,
winning its third Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship in
the last six years.

selected Whack Hyder State of Georgia Women’s Coach of the Year
Sixth-year head coach
paced Lakers to PBC Tournament championship and sixth straight NCAA
Division II National Tournament berth
 MORROW,
Ga. - March 16, 2010 – The Atlanta Tip-Off Club announced its
2010 postseason honors on Tuesday, and Clayton State women’s head
basketball coach Dennis Cox was selected as the Whack Hyder State of
Georgia Women’s Coach of the Year.
Cox becomes the third Clayton State head coach to receive this
prestigious honor. In 1994, current Clayton State Athletic Director
Mason Barfield was honored as the Georgia Men’s NAIA Coach of the
Year by the Atlanta Tip-Off Club. That was followed in 2007 when
current Laker men’s basketball coach Gordon Gibbons received the
Whack Hyder State of Georgia Men’s College Coach of the Year honor.

Clayton State’s Tillman selected Daktronics
All-Southeast Region for women’s basketball
Laker junior was
All-Peach Belt Conference, PBC Tournament Most Valuable Player
 MORROW,
Ga. - March 15, 2010 – The season may have ended sooner than
she wanted, but the postseason accolades continue to grow for
Clayton State’s Teshymia Tillman. The Lakers’ 5-foot-10 junior guard
was honored over the weekend as a second team Daktronics
All-Southeast Region selection for women’s basketball. Tillman is
the first Clayton State player to earn All-Region honors since
Cateria Shaw was selected Division II All-Region and All-American by
the WBCA (Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association) in 2003.
