Clayton State’s Gass wins USTFCCCA Women’s Indoor Southeast Region Field Athlete of the Year
Laker senior takes second regional honor for her career
MORROW, Ga. - March 10, 2010 – The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association recently announced its 49 athletes and coaches winning regional awards for the 2010 indoor season. Among the honorees was Clayton State’s Natasha Gass, who won USTFCCCA Women’s Southeast Region Athlete of the Year. This is the second such award for Gass, a senior from Augusta, Ga. She also won the award in 2007 as a freshman when Clayton State competed in the South Region. See full story

Lakers' Etienne sets Laker women’s team record in 600-meter run at Virginia Tech Challenge
SEWANEE, Tenn. - February 20, 2010 – The Clayton State Laker men’s and women’s track and field teams concluded the 2010 indoor season with arguably its most productive meet of the season on Saturday at the Sewanee Indoor Invitational. Overall, Clayton State set one team record and recorded 22 Top 10 finishes for the meet. The Laker men recorded 15 top 10 finishes, while the Clayton State women finished with seven. The lone team record came from the Clayton State women as Monique Belmudes broke teammate Keisha Etienne’s mark in the 800-meter run. She finished third overall with a time of 2:25.77. Laker men’s and women’s distance medley relay teams each post Top 10 finishes
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – February 12, 2010 – This 2010 indoor track and field season, Clayton State men’s and women’s head coach Mike Mead has focused on progress from week-to-week with a young team. Both the Laker men and women showed some progress on Friday at the Hoosier Invite at Indiana. Facing more stellar competition compared to the previous week at Tennessee State, the two teams combined for only two Top 10 finishes and one team record. The highlight of the meet occurred on the men’s side, where the Lakers’ Robert Spezzacatena bettered his team indoor mark in the 600-meter run. See full story


Clayton State’s Etienne sets women’s team record in 800-meter run at Tiger Invite
Laker men and women record combined seven Top 10 finishes in opening 2010 indoor meet
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – February 6, 2010 – The Clayton State Laker men’s and women’s track and field teams set a team record and recorded a combined seven Top 10 finishes on Saturday in their 2010 indoor season opener at the Tiger Invite at Tennessee State. The team record came on the women’s side, where senior Keisha Etienne set the 800-meter run mark in 2:26.50 to finish 11th overall. In addition to Etienne, the Laker women recorded three Top 10 finishes. The Clayton State men recorded four Top 10 finishes. See full story
