Lakers end 2007 season
with 14-4-2 mark
BANNER
ELK, N.C. - November 7, 2007 – Defeating a team twice during
a season in soccer is quite an accomplishment. Imagine trying to
beat the same teams three times in a season. The Clayton State Laker
men’s soccer team had that opportunity against Lander in the first
round of the 2007 NCAA Division II National Tournament on Thursday
at Lees-McRae. However, the Peach Belt Conference rival Bearcats
used a stellar defense effort to turn back Clayton State 1-0. The
defeat concludes 14th-ranked
Clayton State’s season with a 14-4-2 mark. 19th-ranked
Lander (14-4-2) advances to the second round against the
Lees-McRae/Queens winner on Saturday.
