Clayton State places
three on Daktronics Men’s Soccer Division II All-Southeast Region
Team
Lakers’ Timm, Cristofoli,
Brown each selected second team All-Region
 MORROW,
Ga. – November 19, 2009 – The Clayton State Laker men’s
soccer team placed three players on this season’s Daktronics
Division II All-Southeast Region team, which was released on
Thursday.
Honored as second team All-Region for the Lakers was midfielder
Kyle Timm, goalkeeper David Cristofoli and defender Liam Brown. This
is the first All-Region honor each for the Clayton State trio.
Timm, a senior from Johannesburg, South Africa, was honored as
both All-Peach Belt Conference and PBC Co-Player of the Year. He
joined previous Clayton State players Tonny Madegwa (2007) and Marco
Capazario as PBC Player of the Year winners for the Lakers.
Directing the Laker attack at center midfield, Timm led the PBC
in assists with 10, and has been the Lakers’ captain and offensive
playmaker all season. He tied the Clayton State single-game record
for assists against UNC Pembroke in the PBC Tournament
quarterfinals.
Cristofoli, a senior from Johannesburg, South Africa, led the PBC
in shutouts with 10 and finished second in goals-against average at
0.92. After allowing 13 goals in the Lakers’ first eight games of
the season, Cristofoli allowed only four in Clayton State’s last 10
games in which the Lakers went 7-2-1.
Brown, a senior from Glasgow, Scotland, became the anchor of a
stellar Laker defense at right back. He’s paced a Clayton State
defensive unit that has allowed only 17 goals on the season (the
fewest in the PBC) and led the PBC in shutouts with 10. In addition,
Brown also tallied three assists this year. |
