Clayton State’s Timm selected Peach Belt Conference co-Player of the Year for men’s soccer
Brown, Cristofoli selected first team All-PBC, Fredericks selected second team All-PBC

MORROW, Ga. – November 6, 2009 – For the third time in its program history, the Clayton State Laker men’s soccer team boasts having a Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year.

The Peach Belt Conference released its 2009-10 All-Conference team for men’s soccer, and the Lakers’ Kyle Timm was selected as the PBC co-Player of the Year for this season. Timm shares the honor with Lander senior forward Adam Arthur.

Timm joins previous Clayton State players Tonny Madegwa (2007) and Marco Capazario as PBC Player of the Year winners for the Lakers. The senior midfielder from Johannesburg, South Africa, is currently leading the PBC in assists with nine, and has been the Lakers’ captain and offensive playmaker all season. He tied the Clayton State single-game record for assists this week against UNC Pembroke in the PBC Tournament quarterfinals.

In addition to Timm, Clayton State also had goalkeeper David Cristofoli and defender Liam Brown get selected first team All-PBC, while forward Leighton Fredericks was a second team selection.

Cristofoli, a senior from Johannesburg, South Africa, is currently leading the Peach Belt Conference in both shutouts (10) and goals-against-average (0.86). After allowing 13 goals in the Lakers’ first eight games of the season, Cristofoli has allowed only two in Clayton State’s last nine games in which the Lakers have gone 7-1-1.

Brown, a senior from Glasgow, Scotland, has been become the anchor of a stellar Laker defense at right back. He’s paced a Clayton State defensive unit that has allowed only 15 goals so far this season (the fewest in the PBC) and leads the PBC in shutouts with 10. In addition, Brown has also tallied three assists this year.

Last season’s PBC Freshman of the Year, Fredericks, a sophomore from Durban, South Africa, once again is leading Clayton State in scoring this season with nine goals and one assist for 19 points. He is currently ranked fifth in conference in goals scored and seventh in points scored.

Fredericks’ highlight this season was his first career hat-trick against Alabama-Huntsville.
