Lakers ranked 23rd in
latest NSCAA/Adidas Division II Men’s Soccer Top 25 poll
Clayton State slips nine spots
after two-game split last week
MORROW,
Ga. – September 26, 2007 – This week’s latest NSCAA/Adidas
Top 25
Division II national poll for men’s soccer was released on Tuesday,
and the Clayton State Lakers are in the Top 25 for a fourth straight
week.
After recording a two-game split last week, Clayton State is ranked
23rd
in the latest Top 25 poll. That’s a nine-spot drop from last week’s
ranking of 14th
in the nation. Clayton State opened the week with a 2-0 shutout
victory over Erskine on Wednesday, but stumbled on Saturday,
dropping a 3-1 decision at USC-Aiken.
Clayton State is one of two teams from the Peach Belt Conference
ranked this week in the Division II Top 25. Lander also dropped nine
spots this week from seventh to 16th
after also splitting its two
games for the week.
In addition to the Division II Top 25, Clayton State also slipped
one spot in this week’s Division II Southeast Region poll. The
Lakers are now ranked third in the region behind Lander and
Lees-McRae, which is ranked seventh in the nation.
Clayton State is back in action on Saturday, playing host to UNC-Pembroke
at 7 p.m. at Laker Field.
