Lakers’ Haggon selected Peach Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week for men’s soccer
Senior defender scores twice goals and plays key role in Clayton State’s two shutout victories

MORROW, Ga. – September 6, 2007 – The Peach Belt Conference released its first weekly honors for men’s soccer on Wednesday, and the Clayton State defender Karl Haggon was selected as the Peach Belt Defensive Player of the Week.

Haggon, a senior from Durham England and a transfer from Division I Marshall, made a big splash in his Clayton State debut over the weekend in the Laker Shootout.

Spectacular on both ends of the field, Haggon anchored a Laker defense that posted two straight shutouts and allowed only a combined 13 shots against Belmont Abbey and Anderson. Offensively, he scored two goals in the first half against Belmont Abbey.

Clayton State, which is 2-0 and ranked 15th in this week’s NSCAA/Adidas Division II Top 25, plays at 19
th-ranked Lees-McRae tonight at 7:30 p.m. in a big early-season Top 25 showdown.
