One of the top goalkeepers to ever don a Laker uniform, Warren van der Westhuizen enters his third season as an assistant coach with the Laker soccer program after a stellar collegiate career at Clayton State.

In addition to his coaching duties, where he will specialize in coaching the goalkeepers, van der Westhuizen also assists in recruiting, scouting and soccer operations.
Outiside of Clayton State, van der Westhuizen also works at the Tucker Youth Soccer Association, where he serves as a coach and the Association's webmaster.

He most recently played for the top team in the Heartland Division in the PDL for the Des Moines Menace in 2003. He had a team-low .98 goals against average after logging a team-high 848 minutes.

van der Westhuizen, a four-year letterwinner at Clayton State, holds virtually all of the goalkeeper records in both the Peach Belt Conference and at Clayton State. His .64 shutout percentage in 2000 ranks fifth best in NCAA Division II history, while his .47 goals against average that same year ranks among the top-25 all-time. His career .64 goals against average ranks seventh in NCAA history, while his 6,841 minutes ranks 15th.

van der Westhuizen was a three-time selection to the NSCAA All-Southeast Region and All-Peach Belt Conference teams. He graduated from Clayton State in 2002 with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology and is also pursuing degrees in Marketing and Psychology at Clayton State.
