Lakers place two on Daktronics Division II All-Southeast Region team for men’s soccer
Habtom selected first team, Rall selected second team for Clayton State

MORROW, Ga. — NOVEMBER 14, 2006 — The Daktronics Division II All-Southeast Region team for men’s soccer was release on Tuesday, and the Clayton State Lakers placed two players on the All-Region team.

Midfielder Hailab Habtom was selected first team All-Southeast Region, while defender Andre Rall was a second team selection. As a first team selection, Habtom is now eligible for Daktronics Division II All-American honors, which will be announced at a later date.

Both Habtom and Rall played key roles in pacing Clayton State to a 10-9 mark in the 2006 season and a share of the Peach Belt Conference championship.

A 6-0, 150-pound junior from Spanga, Sweden, Habtom transferred to Clayton State this season from Tyler Junior College in Texas, and his impact was immediately felt. He led the Lakers in scoring with 10 goals and 11 assists for 31 points, garnering All-Peach Belt Conference honors in the process.

Habtom was tied for first in the Peach Belt in assists, while being ranked third in scoring and tied for fourth in goals scored. In addition, he’s ranked eighth in the nation in assists.

A 6-foot-3, 195-pound senior from Johannesburg, South Africa, Rall overcame two seasons of injuries to return to form as the anchor of the Laker defense in garnering All-Peach Belt honors. He was previously both an All-Peach Belt and All-Southeast Region selection as a freshman in 2003, and was also the Peach Belt Freshman of the Year that season.
