One of the best
goalkeepers ever at Clayton State, following successfully in the
footsteps of predecessor and mentor Warren van der Westhuzien… A
two-time All-Peach Belt Conference selection and one-time Division
II All-Southeast Region selection… Ranks second all-time at Clayton
State in shutouts with 12 and goals-against average of 0.94… A
legitimate All-Peach Belt, All-Southeast Region and All-American
hopeful this season.
2005: Played in 18 games with 17
starts... Named both All-Peach Belt Conference and Division II
All-Southeast Region... Finished with a .73 goals against average,
which ranked second in the Peach Belt and 13th in the
nation... Fourth best goals-against average in Clayton State
history... Recorded six shutouts on the season, ranking third in the
Peach Belt.
2004: Started all 20 games in goal for
the Lakers.... Selected All-Peach Belt Conference... Finished with a
.72 goals against average, which ranked 11th in the nation and best
in the Peach Belt Conference... Third best goals-against average in
Clayton State history... Recorded 5.8 shutouts on the season...
Played 1747 minutes, third most in school history and most in the
conference... Selected team’s most improved player.
2003: Played a team-high 1078 minutes
in goal and finished with a 1.59 goals against average... Finished
the season with a team-best 60 saves… Ranked fifth in the Peach Belt
Conference in both goals-against average and in saves... Played in
13 games with 10 starts... Slowed at the end of the season due a
knee injury, causing him to miss several games.
Pre-Clayton
State: Redshirted in 2002 at Mars Hill.
High School/Club: Four-year letter
winner at Johnson High School... High school head coach was Mark
Dunn… Helped lead team to a trio of state quarterfinal
appearances... Recorded eight shutouts as a senior and was the team
Most Valuable Player, helping lead Johnson to a 17-2 record and a
berth in the state quarterfinals... Selected Most Valuable Defensive
Player as a sophomore and junior... Helped lead team to state
quarterfinal appearances as a sophomore and junior with 16-1-1 and
17-2 records, respectively.

of Karen and Stan Padgett... Sister Haley is a freshman forward this
season for the Clayton State women’s team, and brother Shane played
