come! Clayton State advances to NCAA Division II Men’s Golf National
Championships
20th-ranked
Lakers finish fourth overall at NCAA Division II Southeast Regional
 MOORESVILLE,
N.C. – May 7, 2008 – The Clayton State Laker men’s
golf team can keep their bags packed for one more week. They are
going to Houston. Clayton State came on strong in the final round of
the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional on Wednesday and qualified
for the NCAA Division II National Championships for the first time
since the 1999 season. The 20th-ranked
Lakers shot a 301 for the final round and finished with a 901
overall to claim the fifth and final spot in the Regional for next
week’s National Championships in Houston, Texas. The Lakers edged
Peach Belt Conference rival and 24th-ranked
Lander by one stroke and Barton by three strokes in the combined
Southeast/Atlantic Regionals at The Point Lake and Golf Club.

 MOORESVILLE,
N.C. – May 6,
2008 –
The Clayton State Laker men’s golf team finds itself on
the outside looking in for a potential NCAA Division II
National Championship round berth after the second round
of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regionals on Tuesday.
After shooting a 296 to open the Regional on Monday, the
20th-ranked Lakers slipped in the second
round with a 304 and now stand fifth with a 600 heading
into Wednesday’s final round at The Point Lake and Golf
Club. In the combined Southeast and Atlantic Regionals,
the Lakers trail Barton by one stroke, Newberry by three
strokes and 24th-ranked Lander by four
strokes in the battle for Division II National
Championship berths. Individually, junior Will Wilcox is
currently tied for ninth overall at 3-over par 147.

 MOORESVILLE,
N.C. – May 5, 2008 – Playing in its first NCAA
Division II postseason even since 2003, the Clayton State Laker
men’s golf team is currently in fourth place after the first round
of what has become a highly-competitive NCAA Division II Southeast
Regional at The Point Lake and Golf Club. The 20th-ranked
Lakers shot a first-round score of 296 on Monday to stand right in
the middle of the pack in the eight-team Regional. Clayton State
holds a tight one-stroke lead over fourth-ranked and Peach Belt
Conference champion USC Aiken, and the Lakers trail 24th-ranked
Lander by two strokes and South Atlantic Champion Newberry by three
strokes.

qualifies for NCAA Division II Southeast Men’s Golf Regional
20th-ranked
Lakers making their first trip to NCAA postseason play since 2003
 MORROW,
Ga. – April 30, 2008 – Fresh off its unprecedented
runner-up finish at the 2008 Peach Belt Conference Tournament last
week, the Clayton State Laker men’s golf team learned early in the
week that it has qualified for the 2008 NCAA Division II Southeast
Regional next week at the Point Lake Golf Club in Mooresville, N.C.
It’s the first NCAA regional berth for the 20th-ranked
Lakers since the 2003 season. The 54-hole event is set for Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday at Point Lake Golf Club with 18 holes each
day, and both the Southeast and Atlantic Regionals will be played at
Point Lake.
