Clayton State’s Wilcox selected Division II Ping
All-Region
Junior ranked seventh in the nation in Division II for 20th-ranked Lakers

MORROW, Ga. – May 15, 2008 – He may not be finished playing in 2007-08, but the postseason honors are starting to roll in for Will Wilcox.

The Clayton State standout and Peach Belt Conference champion was selected to the Division II Ping All-Southeast Region team on Wednesday, announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). It marks the second straight season that Wilcox, a native of Pell City, Ala., has earned All-Region honors, making him the first ever player at Clayton State to accomplish that feat.

Wilcox is one of 10 players from the Peach Belt Conference selected to the 13-player All-Southeast Region team.

The seventh-ranked player in Division II, according to Golfstat, Wilcox is having arguably the best individual season ever for a men’s golfer at Clayton State. His current scoring average of 71.2 is the best ever in a season for a player at Clayton State, and he has posted four tournament championships and 10 Top 10 finishes combined in the fall and spring.

In addition to becoming the first ever player from Clayton State to win the Peach Belt Conference individual championship, Wilcox also posted tournament championships at the Orchard Fall Classic, the Alfac/Cougar Invitational and the Southbridge Pirate Invitational. He also became the first Laker to garner All-Peach Belt Conference honors for the first time since 2000.

Wilcox is currently tied for second place at the NCAA Division II National Championships in Houston, Texas, and the 20
th-ranked Clayton State Lakers lead by five strokes at the start of the second round today.
