Clayton State concludes regular season with third-place finish at BMW Collegiate
Wilcox finishes tied for seventh with four-over par 148

GREENVILLE, S.C. --- APRIL 9-10, 2007 --- The Clayton State Laker men’s golf team concluded its 2007 regular season with a strong showing on Tuesday at the BMW Collegiate at the Verdae Greens Golf Club. The Lakers finished a solid third place in the 15-team field with a two-round score of 606.

Clayton State finished four strokes behind Barton and 13 behind tournament champion Presbyterian. The Lakers finished three strokes ahead of St. Andrews, five strokes in front of Anderson and nine strokes ahead of Pfeiffer.

Individually, Will Wilcox recorded his fourth straight Top 10 finish by finishing tied for seventh with a four-over par 148 (76-72). The sophomore finished a mere four strokes off the pace of individual medalist Stephen Harrison from Barton.

In addition to Wilcox, senior Matt Beall finished tied for 21st with an eight-over 152 (76-76) and freshman James Martin finished tied for 28th with a 10-over 154 (75-79). Freshman Daniel Sommerville finished tied for 33rd with an 11-over 155 (82-73), followed by sophomore Neil McBride finishing tied for 53rd with a 160 (79-81).

The Lakers also had two additional players competing as individuals. Matthias Carlander finished tied for 40th with a 12-over 156 (80-76), while freshman Conaill Scanlon finished tied for 67th with a 164 (82-82).

Clayton State will compete in the Peach Belt Conference Championship on April 16-17 at the Harbor Club in Lake Oconee, Ga.
