NABC Division II Top 25 Coach’s Poll

Clayton State ranked second in the nation for second straight week

MORROW, Ga. --- DECEMBER 20, 2006 --- The NABC Division II Top 25 Coach’s Poll for men’s basketball was released on Tuesday, and the Clayton State Lakers maintained their No. 2 ranking

Clayton State received 191 points in this week’s poll, trailing top-ranked and defending NCAA Division II national champion Winona State by nine points. Rounding out the Top five in the poll is Central Missouri in third, followed by Bentley and Southern Indiana. Clayton State is the only Peach Belt Conference team ranked in the Top 25.

The Lakers are in the middle of the best start to a season in program history at 8-0. Clayton State won a big 62-54 victory at in-state rival West Georgia on Saturday, and that was the Lakers’ first ever victory in Carrollton. That was followed by a tough 67-58 victory over NAIA power Lee on Tuesday at the Athletics and Fitness Center.

Clayton State is off for the Holiday break, but the Lakers return to action with the Heritage Bank Holiday Classic on Dec. 29-31 at the Athletics and Fitness Center.
