Clayton State ranked 22nd in this week’s NABC/Division II Top 25 Coach’s Poll
Lakers gear up for Peach Belt Conference Top 25 showdown against eighth-ranked Augusta State

MORROW, Ga. – FEBRUARY 20, 2007 –
Losing twice last week has made the Clayton State Lakers take a hit in the NABC/Division II Top 25 Coach’s Poll.

The Poll was released on Tuesday, and it had Clayton State ranked 22nd in the new rankings. That’s down nine spots from last week’s ranking of 13th in the nation. However, defeats last week against Georgia Southwestern and North Georgia forced the Lakers to dive this week. However, Clayton State has a chance to make ascension before the end of the regular season.

The Lakers play host to eighth-ranked Augusta State on Wednesday in a Peach Belt Conference Top 25 showdown.

Clayton State received 34 points in this week’s poll, three points behind 21st-ranked Barton, four-points behind 20th-ranked Henderson State and six points behind 19th-ranked Cal-Poly Pomona. Defending NCAA Division II National Champion Winona State continues to be the nation’s Top-ranked Division II team.

This season, Clayton State has been ranked in all 13 NABC/Division II Top 25 Coach’s Polls.

The much-anticipated showdown between Clayton State and Augusta State is set for Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Athletics and Fitness Center.
