Lakers ranked 10th in this week’s NABC/Division II Top 25 Coach’s Poll
Clayton State battles 16th-ranked Augusta State in Peach Belt Top 25 showdown on Wednesday

 

MORROW, Ga. --- FEBRUARY 6, 2007 --- The NABC/Division II Top 25 Coach’s Poll for men’s basketball was released on Tuesday, and the Clayton State Lakers slipped in the poll for a second straight week.

After splitting its two games last week,
Clayton State is ranked 10th in this week’s Top 25 poll. The Lakers fell four spots from sixth in last week’s poll. After Saturday’s 74-49 rout on Saturday over USC-Upstate, Clayton State is 19-2 overall and 8-2 in the Peach Belt Conference heading into Wednesday’s Top 25 showdown at 16th-ranked Augusta State.

The Lakers and Jaguars are the only two Peach Belt teams ranked in the Division II Top 25.

Clayton State received 130 points to round out the Top 10 of the poll. Defending NCAA Division II national champion Winona State continues to hold the top spot, followed by Bentley,
Findlay, Metropolitan State and Central Missouri in the Top five. Southeastern Oklahoma State, Grand Valley State, Southern Indiana, Minnesota State and Clayton State round out the Top 10.

The much-anticipated showdown between
Clayton State and Augusta State is set for Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. at Augusta State’s Christenberry Field House.
