Clayton State’s McLaurin selected
All-Peach Belt Conference for men’s basketball
Senior guard gains All-Conference honor for second straight season

MORROW, Ga. – FEBRUARY 27, 2007 – For the second straight season, Todd McLaurin is considered amongst the best in the Peach Belt Conference.

The Peach Belt Conference released its 2006-07 All-Conference team for men’s basketball on Tuesday, and McLaurin was the lone representative from Clayton State selected to the squad. It’s also second time in program history the first time since Robert Conley was a back-to-back selection in both 1997 and 1998 that a Laker was voted All-Peach Belt Conference for two straight seasons.

Despite having to miss the first seven games of the season due to the NCAA’s 10-semester eligibility rule, McLaurin once again leads the Lakers in scoring, averaging 14 points and three rebounds a game in 19 games played. In addition, the 5-foot-11, 180-pound senior from Clinton, N.C., is shooting 78 percent from the free throw line and has recorded 33 steals.

McLaurin reached double-figures in scoring in 13 of his 19 games played. That included six games of scoring 20 points or more. His best game of the season was a 25-point performance on a perfect 10-for-10 shooting from the free throw line against USC-Upstate. He also scored 23 points each against USC-Aiken and Augusta State, 21 points against Armstrong Atlantic and 20 points each against Arkansas-Monticello and Columbus State.

McLaurin and his Clayton State teammates are preparing for the upcoming Peach Belt Conference Tournament, which will be held this week in Greenwood, S.C. The 21-6 Lakers battled 17-10 USC-Upstate in the quarterfinals on Friday at 1 p.m.
