Junior ranked seventh in the nation in Division II for 20th-ranked

MORROW,
Ga. – May 15, 2008 – He may not be
finished playing in 2007-08, but the postseason honors are starting
to roll in for Will Wilcox. The Clayton State standout and Peach
Belt Conference champion was selected to the Division II Ping
All-Southeast Region team on Wednesday, announced by the Golf
Coaches Association of America (GCAA). It marks the second straight
season that Wilcox, a native of Pell City, Ala., has earned
All-Region honors, making him the first ever player at Clayton State
to accomplish that feat. Wilcox is one of 10 players from the Peach
Belt Conference selected to the 13-player All-Southeast Region team.

leads NCAA Division II Men’s Golf National Championships with
7-under par 273
Lakers’ Wilcox tied for second overall with 4-under 66 after opening
round

HOUSTON,
Texas – May 14, 2008 – The Clayton
State Laker men’s golf team literally saved their best for last in
the first round of the 2008 NCAA Division II National Championships
on Wednesday. Playing in the final pairing of the round, Clayton
State made a huge statement in its first appearance in the National
Championships in nine years by shooting a sizzlin’ 7-under par 273
for first place overall after the first round at the Memorial Park
Golf Club. The Lakers hold a five-stroke lead over Southest Region
rival Belmont Abbey, a seven-stroke lead over Indianapolis and a
nine-stroke advantage over Peach Belt Conference rival USC Aiken,
Grand Valley State and Western Washington. Individually, Clayton
State's Will Wilcox is tied for second place at 4-under 66.

MORROW,
Ga. – May 14, 2008 – For an unprecedented fifth
straight time, the Clayton State Laker men’s golf team finds itself
again nationally-ranked in Division II. And this will be for the end
of the season as well. The Lakers held steady at 20th
in the nation in the fifth and final Golf World/Nike Golf
Division II Top 25 Coaches’ Poll of the season, which was released
on Wednesday. It marks the first time ever in program history that
Clayton State has been nationally-ranked for five straight rating
periods in men’s golf. Clayton State received 84 points in the new
poll, fresh off finishing fourth last week at the NCAA Division II
Southeast Regioanls and qualifying for this week’s NCAA Division II
National Championships.

Clayton State qualifies five athletes
for NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Nationals

MORROW,
Ga. – May 13, 2008 – California, here we come! Clayton State
will be sending its largest number of track & field athletes since
2004 to next week’s NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National
Championships in California. Earlier on Tuesday, Clayton State
received official notice that five Laker athletes – three from the
women’s team and two from the men’s team — will compete in the
Division II championship meet May 22-24 in Walnut, Calif. The meet
is being hosted by Cal Poly Pomona. Representing Clayton State on
the women's side is senior Allison Kreutzer, junior Kim Larry and
Keisha Etienne, while senior Eric Simmons and junior Ahmad Rolle
will represent the Laker men.
