Ga. – November 6, 2009 –
Fans got a sneak peak of the 2009-10
version of the Clayton State men’s basketball team on Friday night, and
left the Athletics and Fitness Center impressed and entertained at the
same time. Playing their first exhibition game of the season against the
Golden Star from the island of Martinique, the Lakers turned on the
afterburners with an astonishing 125-59 rout at the Athletics and
Fitness Center. This is the first of two exhibition games for Clayton
State, the next coming on Nov. 18 against BASELINE USA. Sophomore Torrin
Greene paced a balanced Laker attack with 18 points.

Clayton State men drop
2-1 double-overtime heartbreaker to Lander in PBC semifinals

Ga. – November 6, 2009 – The opportunity
for a Peach Belt Conference championship and a possible NCAA Division II
National Tournament berth came to a heartbreaking conclusion for the
Clayton State Laker men’s soccer team in the Peach Belt Conference
Tournament on Friday. Battling rival Lander tooth-and-nail for two
overtimes, the Lakers dropped a tough 2-1 decision to Lander in the PBC
semifinals at Blanchard Woods Park. Clayton State is now 11-6-1 overall,
and the Lakers still have a small chance at earning an NCAA Division II
postseason bid, which will be announced on Monday.

MORROW,
Ga. – November 6, 2009 – For the
third time in its program history, the Clayton State Laker men’s
soccer team boasts having a Peach Belt Conference Player of the
Year. The Peach Belt Conference released its 2009-10
All-Conference team for men’s soccer, and the Lakers’ Kyle Timm
was selected as the PBC co-Player of the Year for this season.
Timm shares the honor with Lander senior forward Adam Arthur.
Timm joins previous Clayton State players Tonny Madegwa (2007)
and Marco Capazario as PBC Player of the Year winners for the
Lakers.

Clayton State’s Sayon selected All-Peach Belt
Conference for women’s soccer
Sophomore forward was Lakers leading scorer this season

MORROW,
Ga. – November 6, 2009 – The Peach Belt
Conference released its 2009 All-Peach Conference for women’s
soccer on Friday, and Clayton State’s Cherie Sayon was selected
first team All-PBC. The All-Conference team was voted on by the
Peach Belt Conference women’s soccer head coaches.
A sophomore forward from Monrovia,
Liberia, Sayon is the only Clayton State player on the 2009 All-PBC
team. She joins PBC Player of the Year Kristin Burton, Columbus
State’s Gina Goforth and North Georgia’s Kelsey Martin as
first-team selections at forward.
